Ashland Fiber Network

My heart felt thanks to the amazing and industrious technician Dana and the folks at AFN who have rescued us and connected us back to the internet expeditiously, not once but twice now (storms and a downed pole/fire). They work through the night and out in the cold and adverse conditions to keep us connected. Thank you Dana and AFN!!!

Due to the poorly maintained 30+ year old network, there are constant outages throughout the City of Ashland, particularly on rainy, cold, or hot days. They don't have enough technicians or financial capital to properly maintain the network. No one answers the phone and all the technicians are rude to customers/don't fix issues in a timely fashion. Do yourself a favor and go with Spectrum. It's a little more expensive, but much more reliable.

Moved here from San Diego and the AFN has been way more reliable then Spectrum (AKA the devils internet company). A person answers when you call and if you get on their text list they will let you know about planed outages and even the occasional squirrel that takes out the towns power and internet along with it. Upload speed can be a bit slower sometimes but unless you are trying to record Youtube videos in HD at 5pm when everyone is watching TV, most of you will never see a problem. Highly recommend.

I have had intermittent poor service since November of 2020 and probably before that. My internet connection drops weekly and most recently daily. The AFN technician said the problem is in my house, I had the house rewired problem still persists. The techs are trying but cannot find a solution. I'm ready to try spectrum. Update summer 2021: The problem was finally resolved, turns out it was a faulty piece of equipment at the hub on the street which they had switched out before, but put in one that worked worse. Also, had a poorly functioning modem. Since the problem was discovered the quality of the connection has been good. Now I wonder if they will pay me back or credit me for the cost to rewire the connection in the house.... HA!

If you’re going to live in Ashland I would highly recommend using Ashland fiber network as your provider. If you need help or have a simple question a person actually answers the phone! You get instant help from a friendly human being and not an automated system. I’ve been very happy with AFN these last few years that I’ve used them as my Internet provider.

Was great high speed when they first opened, they now have entirely too many people on their network. Internet is paaaaiiinfuly slow for everyone I know that uses their network, especially after dinner hours when all the network clients in ashland are streaming. They also didn't charge me for 6 months then sent me a huge bill. Amateur disorganized and super slow, super, super slow. They had me buy a new $200 router and tried "rewiring" our system, after that didn't work they told me there was too many people on their network and will hopefully speed up this summer. Amateur, disorganized, very, very slow internet. Save yourself the aggravation go to another provider.

Honestly, I've had it drop speeds three separate times (for over a day), or entirely cut out in the one month I've had AFN - that's pretty unacceptable. I've had various internet providers over the last 15+ years and this is the least consistent. Unfortunate because I wanted to support local business, but they're making it very difficult...

Dena installed my internet service today. She did an amazing job, figuring out complications, getting the entire system operating perfectly. She's a total pleasure to work with. Thanks, Dena, for the above and beyond service!
