My husband and I moved to Westminster a little over a year ago. We absolutely love living here. If I had to pick one benefit of living here, it would be that we have peace of mind that our living arrangements will always be in the same building, no matter our needs. And the best part is that our monthly fee will always be affordable. We are so happy that we made this decision before we "needed" to. We are enjoying our newfound freedom to do the things we have always wanted to do but didn't have the time. In addition, when Westminster is threatened by hurricanes or potential disasters the larger Acts community kicks in for added security. The following is an example of just one of the communication we received during Hurricane Dorian: UPDATE (Aug. 31, 10 a.m.): We continue monitoring and preparing for Hurricane Dorian and diligently following our comprehensive preparation plans. Acts corporate staff remains intimately involved with these preparations and corporate representatives have been strategically distributed to each community to provide any additional assistance needed. In addition, rapid response teams are on standby in other Acts regions, ready to respond and assist if needed. Communication is an integral part of our overall preparedness plans and we are committed to keeping everyone fully informed of our efforts to maintain a safe environment. Our next update will be at approximately 2 p.m.

Beautiful place, friendly and competent staff. Truly a retirement village, not a nursing home.

Both of my parents moved here and the place is extremely wonderful. The staff is helpful. They were purchased by ACTS this past year which has several other locations across the country. The food is very good as well. Is a gated community with a security person on staff 24 hours a day.

My family member, who is deaf and has dementia, has been in the nursing home for almost two years. Until the "virus isolation", I visited every day. The facility appears to meet basic regulatory standards. However, marketing materials promise "excellent" care in a "home like" environment. A full time administrator was hired only when the recent "virus isolation" started. And that administrator is temporary. Excellence cannot exist in a leadership vacuum. I have had to work very, very hard to advocate for my family member. During "virus isolation", I have had to work even harder to be provided communication that should have been forthcoming. Visits through the window, which were available in other facilities since April, were not available here until June. Time and space do not permit me to enumerate the numerous struggles I have had. Two stars are not given because I think the place is substandard. The two-star rating is because I was led to expect home-like excellence, but I have been forced to accept that those are just words in ads. It seems the actual goal is to be "good 'nuff", and to expect more is considered unreasonable. Dealing with this place is exhausting and depressing. I spent the time to write this review at the specific request of "the owner". (see below)

My mother has lived in Westminster Village for 3 years. She has been in Independent living, but had a falllast year and went to rehab in skilled care for 5 weeks. This place is wonderful. The care in both independent and skilled is very good. The staff are caring and compassionate. In any facility you will have isolated instances where there is an issue, however the overall care is very good. I can't imagine Mom being anywhere else. Recently she had another fall and they transported her to the hospital. The social worker was great working with the hospital to get her into rehab again and taking care of everything. Living far away, I don't know what we would do without Westminster Village care!
